Convention 2024 Review:
The Harris-Walz Ticket Is Official!

On Tuesday night, in an exciting celebratory Roll Call, the delegates from each state & US territory cast their votes declaring Vice President Kamala Harris the official Presidential candidate for the Democratic Party. On Wednesday night, Governor Walz humbly accepted the nomination in an emotional, family-focused message. And on Thursday night, the ticket was united on stage, as VP Harris gave her powerful acceptance speech. Enjoy this look back at the spectacular, joy-filled event.

Day 1 – For The People

On Monday, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton spoke to the convention about VP Harris’ experience and qualifications. She also spoke to Kamala’s commitment to the people of the United States and how she cares for us all. Here are a few excerpts from her speech.
“The Constitution says the President’s job is to ‘take care that the laws be faithfully executed.’ Those are the words our founders used: ‘Take care’. Just look at the candidates. Kamala cares about kids, families, and America. Donald only cares about himself. On her first day in court, Kamala said five words that guide her still: ‘Kamala Harris: For the people.” That’s something Donald Trump will never understand.

In an emotional message, President Joe Biden spoke to the Convention audience about his commitment to the American people, and his momentous decision to step down from his reelection bid. Giving a full-throated endorsement of Kamala Harris, he reiterated that his decision to choose her as his Vice President was the best decision he made in his entire career.  

Day 2 – A Bold Vision For America’s Future

On Tuesday, former First Lady Michelle Obama and Former President Barack Obama were greeted with tremendous enthusiasm as they spoke about a new chapter for the United States, and “the return of hope.”

Day 3 – A Fight For Our Freedoms

On Wednesday, Former President Bill Clinton spoke about VP Harris and her unique preparedness to serve as President. “Kamala Harris is the only candidate in this race with the vision, the experience, the temperament, the will, and yes—the sheer joy—to do that on good and bad days. To be our voice.”

Governor Tim Walz closed out the evening with his heart-felt “pep talk” about the importance of protecting our freedoms and respecting and helping our neighbors. The nation was moved by the response from his family, particularly his son Gus, who joined him on stage to greet the cheering Convention audience. 

Day 4 – For Our Future

On Thursday, Vice President Harris took the stage and shared her vision and her record with the American people. She made the case for why she and Tim Walz will lead America with integrity, strength, clarity, and kindness.

Michelle Obama gave us a clear directive during her speech. Find an action that you will commit to this week! (I intend to listen to this message many, many times over!).

Each night at the DNCC, we saw portions of the extreme Trump/Vance Project 2025 agenda explained. While the presentations were generally humorous, the point was made very clear:  Project 2025 is dangerous!
