Multnomah County Democrats and members of the Race-Informed Social Justice Committee invite you to join us for a viewing of the movie 13th, an award-winning documentary in which filmmaker Ava DuVernay explores the history of racial inequality in the United States, focusing on the fact that the nation’s prisons are disproportionately filled with African-Americans. This showing will be at the Hollywood Senior Center, 1820 NE 40th Ave, Portland, Oregon 97212, on Friday, September 8th from 6PM to 9PM. All are welcome.
Powerful, infuriating and at times overwhelming, Ava DuVernay’s documentary “13TH” will get your blood boiling and tear ducts leaking. It shakes you up, but it also challenges your ideas about the intersection of race, justice and mass incarceration in the United States, subject matter that could not sound less cinematic. – The New York Times
