Whereas…

Saying goodbye to a newly departed friend and activist is always a difficult, sad and incomplete venture. As we recount the life of Moses Ross and his many years of activism with our Democratic family, we tick through the obligatory list that reflects our friend’s robust resume. To be sure, it’s a long list, and will no doubt provoke responses of “Oh! I didn’t know he did that, too.”

While it’s good to know more about those who have passed, it’s bittersweet to gain such knowledge when you can no longer congratulate them, thank them or give them a hug for their good work.

But more importantly, we honor and remember Moses Ross for the kind of man he was. Moses was motivated to do all he did because his heart was truly in it.  Moses believed and lived by the adage of “working to make people’s lives better”. Whether running for office, taking on a new Party volunteer task, expanding his business, coordinating neighborhood projects, and so much more, he did his work to make the world a little better for all, and above all, make it better for his beloved daughter Emma.

Moses was a happy warrior.  While he understood a world and its microcosms were filled with petty competitions and animosities, Moses approached everything with an authentic smile and positive energy. He knew the bad vibes were out there, and he was not going to let them get him down, and he’d do everything he could to lift you up, as well.

Therefore,

We say goodbye to our longtime friend, colleague and joyful partner in our collective good work and efforts to make the world a bit better.

We honor Moses Ross; we will sorely miss his pure, good and happy heart.

May a piece of him always ride with us.
