This is the last picture my mom took of me with my dad before he died. I was three. My sister was two.
My father left a 27-year-old widow, two children and no life insurance. Thank goodness for social security.
I use personal stories to give Republicans permission to change their minds, and to persuade Democrats to “do something.”
Politics is personal: from being an early recipient of social security benefits, to earning an undergraduate degree courtesy of Pell Grants, to purchasing our first home through an FmHA program, decisions made in Washington changed the trajectory of my life.
With a background in education, publishing and digital marketing, storytelling comes easily to me. As an introvert, this work terrifies me. Regardless, I’ve learned there’s a huge payoff in showing up, making mistakes and doing my best.
