Candidate for:

SCC Delegate

Why I'm running.

In 2016 I retired just in time to watch DJT get elected. I recall waking up every morning and looking at my phone wondering just what awful thing did he do to undermine all the things I value in this country from women’s rights, immigrant rights, to voting rights and on and on. It was truly an abusive government. I knew I needed to do something, anything, to make a difference.

I joined with others. What I have learned over the last six years is that each and every action we take, no matter how small, makes a difference. Writing a postcard, speaking up at a meeting, and dropping a slate card, are all actions that impact others. In today’s politics it is the 1-3% increase in turnout that makes a difference. Mult Dems did make a difference in the 2022 election in Oregon. 77.4% of Dems voted. You did that! We did that!

You all stepped up. You want to make a difference in some way. On one hand, you come to Multnomah Democrats with a lot of skills, talents, and experiences. You look around trying to figure out where you can use your talents, push for what you care about, and get educated on how Mult Dems work. On the other hand, in the back of your mind is also, “how much time do I have?” The current Mult Dems leadership has been absolutely remarkable in opening the doors under extremely stressful circumstances (think Zoom, think about the pandemic)! Not easy.

The job of Mult Dems leadership is to open the doors for all, continually seek your ideas, and make your participation worth your time and talents! That is my goal to make our work open and transparent and worthy of your participation!
