Your Voice Matters in School and College Board Elections in Multnomah County

Attention Multnomah County Voters: On May 20th, you can help elect school board members who will make crucial decisions about our children’s education. And your ballot will also include candidates for community college boards. While these are officially nonpartisan races, many candidates share Democratic values and priorities.

• Democrats are running in 38 out of 45 seats (84%) across Multnomah County.
• These are nonpartisan races, so party affiliation won’t appear on your ballot.

Where We Need Democratic Candidates

Seven races currently have no Democratic candidates.

• Gresham-Barlow School District: Positions 3, 4 and 5
• Riverdale School District: Positions 1 and 3
• Corbett School District: Position 1
• Mt. Hood Community College Board: Position 1

Most Competitive Races

Corbett School District (East County): Three Democratic candidates are challenging in key races:

• Malinda Carlson (Position 3)
• David Osborn (Position 4)
• Maureen “Sis” Childs (Position 5)

Recent progress: In 2023, Democrats Ben Byers and Leah Fredericks won seats by narrow margins (10 and 75 votes).
