Portland has extraordinary potential. At our best, we are one of the best places to live in the world. We have strong, vibrant neighborhoods that are a great place to raise a family. We have a diverse economy that embraces sustainability. And we attract innovators, pioneers, and creative people of all types.

But the rising cost of housing has hit working people hard, pushing them out and contributing to rising homelessness. We’ve faced a surge in addiction and behavioral health issues. And we continue to struggle with the legacies of racism and inequality that harm our community.

I am running because I believe I am the right leader for this time. For over 40 years, I have worked with local governments and organizations to strengthen our community and our economy. I am committed to social justice and sustainability, with the experience to translate those values into policies that work.

I believe in Portland’s future.

Portland is facing a number of significant challenges: the interrelated needs to support neighbors struggling with addiction, mental health, and housing affordability, people living unsheltered on the street, a public safety system that isn’t keeping anyone safe, and broader concerns like our climate crisis, racism, and economic inequities.

But with those challenges come unprecedented opportunity. We can build housing and a transportation systems that create the neighborhoods we will need as our city grows, imagine a public safety system that keeps us all safe, and make sure that all of our decisions make our community, and our economy, more equitable, sustainable, and resilient.

But we won’t get there unless we elect City Councilors who know how to build this new system so that it works for all of us.

I have the skills and experience to do that.

I want Portland to be the place my kids want to live in 20 years. I will be a leader who brings people together, addresses today’s challenges while looking to our future needs, and gets things done.

I’m running because I love Portland, have a vision for its future, and want the job.
That vision is where all Portlanders are housed, have access to opportunity, clean air and clean water, are safe and connected to their neighbors. They have access to economic prosperity and access to nature.

As an elected school board member, I have the experience to lead in a high stakes, collaborative decision making model at this crucial time.

I know what is possible here because I’ve seen it and experienced it. We are a city of innovators and creative problem solvers. We can do this.
Portland has a lot to love, and a lot of problems. It also has potential.

We can be nationally recognized for our neighborhood association system, our progressive values and be known as the age friendliest city on the west coast where pre-schoolers and octogenarians can co-exist.
