Why I'm running.
I am a mother of three and have been a David Douglas parent for seven years. I am a true believer in rigorous, equitable, fully-funded, safe public education for ALL our youth. I will bring my perspective as a bilingual, biracial mother with special education students and listen to all district stakeholders. I will then work with my colleagues on policy that boosts well-being, opportunities, achievement, and outcomes for students in a diverse district comprised heavily of marginalized communities.
My top 3 priorities.
It is fundamental that we approach all policy and board actions through an equity lens. I am committed to overseeing and serving a district that is diverse by every metric. Using the framework of equity to boost engagement, opportunity, achievement and well-being is my number one priority. Speaking to specific policy goals, some of my top priorities are expanding Pre-K, ensuring the integrity of our career and technical education programs, and adopting and defending engaging, rigorous, science-based, inclusive curriculum.
Why voters should choose me.
I bring personal experience, historic engagement, a collaborative attitude, and a listening ear to the David Douglas School Board. I pledge commitment of my time, accountability, accessibility and equity-centered advocacy to our district. I believe these are qualities every school board member should have and I pledge to embody them and be accountable to my peers and communities to do so.
