Dr. Cherice P. Roth
School Board, Position 1
Gresham-Barlow School District
Why I'm running.
I am a veterinarian who has dedicated my career to improving access to veterinary care throughout underserved communities. This has allowed me to intensely discuss barriers to equity and inclusion with underrepresented communities. Education comes up frequently. Instead of complaining about the issues I see in the school board policies, I’m prepared, willing, and able to help seek solutions that work for every student instead of working towards personal agendas.
My top 3 priorities.
- Appropriate Representation for staff, students, and teachers of underrepresented groups within the school board so that the policies are equitable.
- Getting EVERY student access to the Career Technical Education programs available in GBSD.
- Provide new views and voices to the school board based on vital issues for our students to learn everything they need to be successful adults.
Why voters should choose me.
I am a mom, a two-time children’s book author, a first-generation college student and a veterinarian who lives on my family-run farm in Boring with my husband and two young sons that attend elementary school in the district. I am invested in public school because it brought me to where I am today. I am 100% dedicated to PUBLIC schools. I bring a balanced and diverse voice to the school board that is not there now. I understand that equity is not just resources being available. It’s also about making sure that every student can access them. We must work to eliminate discrimination and bias in our schools and create a welcoming environment for all students, regardless of their race, gender identity, sexual orientation, or religion
