Deian Salazar

School Board, Position 7

David Douglas School District

Why I'm running.

I am a 22, autistic Latino former David Douglas Student, and an advocate. I’m running because I believe in our community and I want to contribute and give back to the community that has given me so much.

I have lived experience that can help me relate and support policies that better serve all students.

I know people there, and I understand the needs of the students there. I have always fought for the vulnerable in the district and will continue to bring that fire to the David Douglas School Board so all students can thrive.

My top 3 priorities.

Community Justice:

We need to keep the flame of social diversity and equity with youth alive, modernizing our education system to ensure everyone is part of the community, and every, especially BIPOC, youth have their needs met.

Youth Empowerment:

I strongly support youth rights. I'll work for youth autonomy and be partners with the board to shape the district.

Economic Justice:

The world is changing. Nobody should have to go to college or get good grades to have a decent job. I'll work to provide them the information and tools to pursue their dreams and have a living wage job.

Why voters should choose me.

I went there recently. I know people there, and I understand the needs of the students there. I have always fought for the vulnerable in the district and I will continue to bring that fire to the David Douglas School Board.

I care because I have a deep attachment to the district and many people I love dearly went there. And I want to make the school better for the next generation, for my friends.

I won’t let my community down.
