BOLI - Labor Commissioner

Commissioner of the Oregon Bureau of Labor and Industries

Why I'm running.

The Bureau of Labor and Industries, BOLI, educates, investigates, and enforces civil rights in the workplace, in public accommodations, and in housing. Plus BOLI registers and supervises apprenticeships.

Civil rights are for everyone, but only if you know your rights, if you know where to go when something is wrong, and if BOLI investigates and holds people accountable. Protecting civil rights is the foundation of a functioning democratic system, and all people deserve to be safe and respected in Oregon.

My top 3 priorities.

1. Support a fully-staffed, responsive agency to be Oregon’s civil rights watch. 2. Communicate to the public their rights and where to go for help. 3. Support apprentices and expand apprenticeship opportunities.

Why voters should choose me.

As Yamhill County Commissioner, I have a proven track record of leadership in running a government agency, working with unions, staff, businesses and communicating with the public. As a farmer and former farmworker, I know what businesses need to be responsible and the vulnerability of being a worker. With my science background, I make the right decisions rather than those locked into ideologies, because Oregonians need their civil rights protected, period.
