Announcing our Student Internship

Multnomah County Democrats is pleased to announce the very first paid internship for the Fall and Winter of 2018. We are seeking an energetic student that has an interest in learning more about politics, grassroots organizing as well as campaigning and elections. The internship has flexible hours with the ability to work some evenings and weekends required.

What We Expect: The intern should be familiar with computer programs such as Word and Excel, have excellent communication skills and be comfortable speaking on the phone and speaking to diverse communities. The intern should expect to do some door-to-door canvassing, phone canvassing, event outreach and help with college voter registration drives. Additionally the intern should be detail orientated, able to work independently in fluid situations and have a passion for politics.

What We Offer: A 3-6 month internship that can be a career path or simply the experience of a lifetime. Training as a Field Organizer could be the stepping stone you need to an paid career in politics. We offer you a unique learning experience with the opportunity to earn while learning grassroots organizing and how to manage a successful campaign. We are offering a $1500 stipend paid in increments, to assist in your education cost. If you choose to seek college credit, please speak to your college academic advisor first.

Applications will be accepted starting on 8/04/18 and should be completed and submitted to our office or on or before 5 PM on 8/25/18. Please apply by submitting a one page resume, a one page cover later that states your interest, the school you are affiliated with along with a total of 3 references that may include work, volunteer or academic references. All reference should be dated within the last 2 years. Please submit these documents in Word or a PDF to ViceChair1@Multdems.org. A decision will be made by 9/1/18.

Who May Apply: Students who are between the ages of 18-30 years of age, pursuing their first undergraduate degree may apply for an internship and college credit through any accredited college in Multnomah County.
