What drives me to seek an elected position
Having served in this seat for 5 sessions now, I believe that I have the background and experience to continue the work for the communities that I serve. As the Co-Chair of Ways and Means for the House of Representative I believe that we have difficult times ahead of us and my distinct knowledge will be important going forward.
The first three priorities or issues I want to tackle
Revenue Reform, Balancing the budget, and continuing to provide transparency in the budgeting process. It is clear at this moment that many Oregonians are struggling, it is also clear that we need to understand how we got here. I am happy to have those conversations and to support our work going forward to get us to a better place. It won’t be easy, but I believe we can do it.
The experiences and insights I will bring to the office
10 years of experience in the legislature and 40 years of experience in the field of social work and non-profit management. My years of on the ground work has allowed me to be knowledgeable and clear about the impacts of our system and the laws that we make here in Oregon.
What being a Democrat in Multnomah County means to me
It means that I am in the bluest part of Oregon, which is good and it is something that I have to continue to defend. Others around the state believe that we are privileged and that we take all of the resources. I believe we are the economic engine of the state and we need the resources that we have to maintain the stability of the State.
